You have completed the book review. You have chosen your book. ...but why? What drew you to this story or this particular book?
The theme of our "Senior Read" unit is the idea of "Windows and Mirrors". Would you say that this book acts as a window or mirror for you? No need to give specific reasons (as it may be personal) just let your fellow reader know how this book functions for you.
I chose this book because Everyone hates on others because they are different than others. In this book there's a lot of racism and brutality. I like to read books that relate to my life and even know this exact thing is not going on in my life I see the people who do. Racism plays a huge part in today's society and reading about what the people who get bullied over their skin color will be interesting.

I chose this book because it really is a look in a completely different world for me. It is definitely a window for me. I am a cops daughter and I have never had a problem that the police treated me differently, but I know a lot of people that do not have the same thing to say about the police. I assume it is just the way you look at it but I think that if you do not do illegal things then they will leave you alone and I know in this book that is not the case. So I wanted to get someone else's look on that opinion, and see it from a person's view that isn't a "cops daughter".

I chose this book because it helps give other races the idea or things about how the black lives are treated through a book. I heard this book and movie was good so I knew right then and there I had to read the book when I had the chance to. This would be a mirror for me because I know how it feels to be black and how we get treated by being innocent to a crime, it happens in real life all over the news.

DeleteI chose this book because I think it could be a good book. Just from the front of it and looking up pictures for the bookmark, and it looked like they were arguing about things, a lot of drama, and crime. I honestly think that this book gives a new meaning to "Black Lives Matter." I also think that this book could get me to understand the events of the opposite color.

The problems that Star is facing currently are her best friend gets shot right in front her, her dad is angry because the police just shot a kid for an unknown reason, she is eating less than before, she is barely talking and she is pretty much in a slump where she is lost and doesn't really know what to do with her life anymore.
ReplyDeleteStar was leaving a party with her best friend, when they got pulled over. The police said that Stars best friend had a gun, but it was just a hairbrush. Stars best friend was shot and killed in front of her.
